Local Evangelism

Although The Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ is to preach the gospel to all nation; yet; if the church fails to do the work of evangelism and social concern at hand, then the Church has missed the essence of mission. In addition to the mission work afar, each church needs to view the local evangelistic ministry as most pivotal. Besides organizing and holding Gospel related meetings and activities, there are also other evangelism method. The following are the various ministries mobilized by KCMC and actively participated by the local members.

1. Cell Group Ministry

Cell group is a very suitable place to bring people to the Lord. Cell group has high tolerance and flexibility; new friends are accepted at all times. During gathering, one need not anxiously preach the gospel; on the other hand, we influence one another through our testimony. Nevertheless, the most important thing is to have the aroma of Christ, the love and warmth of believers, as well as the truth of God in which every participant would definitely experience. As mentioned in Corinthians 14:24-25, ”if an unbeliever or someone who does not understand comes in will be convinced by all, So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, "God is really among you!"

On the other hand, CG can also become the mouthpiece and hand of the Church in reaching the community. CG provides the opportunity and environment for believers to bear witness. CG members only need to bring friends to participate in it.

2. Children Evangelism Ministry

Strictly speaking, most of the church's children ministry can only be called the Sunday School ministry. This is because, the majority attendees are children from believers’ family; very few come from non-Christian family. Children are the good soil for gospel; unfortunately, it is being ignored by most churches. Members of KCMC open their homes on every Saturday afternoon to the children from their surrounding neighborhood. They welcome street children as well to share food, to explain Bible stories, to invite them to watch movies, singing and others. The respond is very encouraging. Through this ministry the church had led many children who have never attended Sunday School or church into the kingdom of God. Currently, the average number of children participating in such meetings (about 300) is equivalent to the number of the children in Sunday School.

3. Kindergarten Parents Ministry

Since the establishment of the Methodist Church Kindergarten, we have approximately 400 students. Parents, relatives and friends are major gospel target groups. KCMC had always organize parenting seminars, such as "What to do when your children are naughty?", "How to teach rebellious children?", "Children health care" and so on. In such seminars, we would also design children gospel meeting. At the same time, we also present CD or DVD of related seminars or gospel related material to these parents. This is to create an opportunity of making personal contact and subsequently inviting them to join CG.

4. "My Home" ("Rumah Ku") Children's Shelter:

KCMC established a children's shelter. We adopt children whom their parents no longer can afford or abandoned children, providing them with life necessity as well as education.

5. School Ministry:

KCMC also organize long-term counseling program for the Chinese primary and secondary school teachers throughout Klang area. We receive positive response and had improved the relationship between churches and the community. Annually, we organize camps for marginal student. Such action had been recognized and appreciated by teachers and parents. In addition, KCMC goes to school weekly to tell and to share Bible stories with the students as well as to do counseling.

6. "Pulau Ketam" Ministry:

Pulau Ketam is an island off the coast of Klang, about an hour boat ride away. It has about 7,000 residents, and a few Christians. KCMC’s members organize weekly meeting on the island. We have a dozen adults and 40 to 60 children on average in our meeting. In addition, KCMC also organize various seminars on the island, providing free clinical services, aiding the poor as well as foreign worker, and etc...

7. Hospital Visitation Ministry:

Arrangements will be done by the church weekly to visit patients in the hospital. This is to express our concern and to share God's love and Christ's Gospel with them. At the same time, we also provide basic daily supplies for those patients in need.

8. Migrant Worker Ministry:

Jesus commanded us to preach to the nations, yet today people of all nations have come to us. There are foreign workers from Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal, North India, Burma, Philippines and others, seeking jobs in Malaysia. KCMC helps provide them with a place for regular meetings, as well as different types of gatherings and activities. We do our best to provide them with the necessary assistance and care. There are many foreign workers who come to the Lord because of this. Some even dedicate themselves to the work of preaching. KCMC also conducts training courses for those who had devoted themselves, so that they can be missionaries to their own people upon returning to their country.

9. Drug Rehabilitation Ministry:

In addition to the regular financial support to the Christian-run drug rehabilitation center, KCMC members also lead Bible study as well as care for these people on a weekly basis.

10. AV (Gospel CD) Ministry:

Times are different today. The Church has replaced leaflets with CDs. TV and computer can serve as a gospel podium. KCMC supply all kinds of free CDs in a long term manner. It is a convenient mission tool for believers to utilize.

11. Web Ministry:

This is a new ministry. Internet can preach the gospel, at the same time serves as a tool for communication and information sharing. Targeted user group includes believers and non believers. The importance of the web ministry will certainly increase in the future; therefore, the church should be sensitive and be well prepared.

What a church can do is very limited. We can only play our part, and work closely together with the universal churches that are also faithful toward the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, we also believe that our Lord can sympathize with our weaknesses, and will not despise our offering.
